Fancy Farm Picnic will Return for 2021

After a one-year break due to COVID-19, the popular Fancy Farm Picnic returns to Western Kentucky’s Graves County. The speeches and picnic are planned to be held on August 7, 2021.

The Speeches at Fancy Farm

Political speeches at Fancy Farm are a well-known stepping stone for Kentucky’s political candidates. This year the speeches will be emceed by Bob Babbage, the former Kentucky Secretary of State. These speeches will be broadcast live on KET so that Kentuckians who are not able to travel to Fancy Farm can still listen in. Even though this isn’t a major election year, many are already looking forward to the 2023 governor election and next year’s US senate race.

The Food at the Fancy Farm Picnic

Perhaps equally exciting as the speeches at Fancy Farm, the picnic is an occasion to look forward to. It’s known for its BBQ pork and mutton. In fact, there will be nearly 20,000 pounds of BBQ, which makes it easy to see why the Fancy Farm picnic once held the world record for the largest one day picnic and BBQ.

Family Fun at the Fancy Farm Picnic

In addition to the picnic and speeches, the event will feature a one mile and 5K run on Friday evening. The schedule for Friday will also include a Fish Fry and BINGO. On Saturday, there will be fun and games for children, a car giveaway, BINGO and many other activities going on. The event is a major homecoming for the area and many people come out simply to enjoy the social side of the event.

The Fancy Farm picnic raises money to support St. Jerome’s Catholic Church and school.
