After a 1 year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and a scaled-down festival in 2021 the Great American Brass Band Festival is set to return to Danville in 2022 with most of its usual festivities on the calendar! Unfortunately, due to a variety of circumstances, the immensely popular hot air balloon race is not on the schedule for 2022 – they hope to return in 2023.
The 32st Annual Great American Brass Band Festival will bring world-class brass music, family-friendly events, food vendors, a parade and more to downtown Danville, Kentucky. Scroll to the bottom for the full festival schedule.
Music Performances at the Great American Brass Band Festival
Live brass music will be performed throughout the 3-day festival and will include performances by the Walnut Street Ramblers, Storyville Stompers Brass Band, Single Barrel Brass, Advocate Brass Band, Circle City Sidewalk Stompers, Mike Wade and the Nasty Nati Brass Band, Band of the California Battalion, the 202nd Army Band, Boston Brass, Crossroads Brass Band, Southern Stars Symphonic Brass, and Trumpet Soloist Rex Richardson. More info and bios of all all of the performers can be found HERE.
Food and Drink Options
In addition to a number of fabulous local restaurants in downtown Danville, a wide array of food and drink vendors will be on site in the festival’s food village. We have not yet seen a full list of food and drink vendors but we will update if we do!
Kid-Friendly Activities
The Great American Brass Band Festival is fun for the whole family and includes a number of dedicated activities for kids including a Kids Creation Station at Centre College from 12-3 on Saturday June 4th. My kids always love dancing around to the music and watching the parade! PLUS, the Wagons and Wheels contest is back – it’s a family parade of decorated wagons and wheels – bikes, trikes, and other wheeled transportation is all allowed! Register for the Wagons and Wheels contest here.
