Derby Party Menu

Derby Party Appetizers

Bourbon cocktail meatballs, deviled eggs like grandma made, Kentucky Benedictine Spread and a Kentucky derby dip board that is both pleasing to the eye and a great option for health-minded party guests.

Derby Party Main Course:  Kentucky Sliders Two Ways

I’ve decided we are going to serve sliders at our derby party this year. I like to keep things easy and utensil-free whenever possible at parties. Choose one of these Kentucky-inspired slider recipes or do both to give your guests plenty of choices.

These Kentucky Hot Brown Sliders pack the flavor of the famous Kentucky dish into a convenient hand-held format while the Bourbon Pulled Pork Sliders puts a Kentucky twist on a traditional party sandwich.

Kentucky Derby Party Side Dishes

Southern Mac and Cheese is a must for any Derby party. Not only will adults love it, but it’s a great option for any guests who bring picky kids along. Meanwhile, these Kentucky Bourbon braised bacon brussel sprouts are a drool-worthy way to get your vegetables in at this year’s derby party. Round out the offerings with a wedge salad and these southern hush puppies for a spread of enviable side dishes that will have your derby party guests stacking their plates sky high.

Derby Party Desserts

Now that the main spread is covered, lets move on to the sweet stuff. While a certain restaurant has copyright-protected the name of a certain pie, this “Kentucky Chocolate Walnut Pie” is a close copycat and a must-serve dessert for Derby day. These Mint Julep Cupcakes are adorable and a delicious take on everyone’s favorite Derby Day drink. Meanwhile, this Mint Julep Fruit Salad is a fresh option that everyone will love, especially the health-conscious eaters among us. Last but not least, these Kentucky Bourbon Balls are a must for a derby party. We always love to have bourbon balls around to snack on while we watch the races.

Kentucky Derby Drink Menu

When it comes to Derby Day drinks, Mint Juleps absolutely have to be on the menu, but why not offer Kentucky Mules for an additional Kentucky-themed offering, Or try an Coopers’ & Ale-8-One for something a little different. The Kentucky Oaks Lily is to the Oaks what the Mint Julep is to the Derby. This official drink of the Oaks is the perfect thing to sip while you are watching the Kentucky Oaks leading up to Derby Day.

Kentucky Derby Party Decor

I like this classy red, white and black table spread, inspired by the Run for the Roses. Keeping with the roses theme, these Run for the Roses Wreaths are a great way to greet your guests at the front door.

Alternatively, this more modern place setting is nice to look at and would work well with just about any decor. And, how adorable are these Mason Jar DIY Race Horse Table Numbers?

Kentucky Derby Party Games

If you’re hosting your Kentucky Derby Party outdoors, some lawn games would be a nice addition. What’s more on-theme than horseshoes? If you want to incorporate a little fun betting into your Derby party, this printable Derby betting game will make it easy.
