Once again fireworks will light up the night over the Rough River Dam State Resort Park this 4th of July weekend. This fireworks show is one of the best 4th of July fireworks shows in Kentucky and is worth checking out if you are in Western Kentucky. Rough River Lake, a 5100 acre man-made lake in Western Kentucky was created in the 1950s by the construction of an Army Corp of Engineers Dam. It is the centerpiece and main attraction of Rough River Dam State Resort Park which sits in a region of Western Kentucky that is a haven for lake-lovers as it’s also home to Land Between the Lakes, Kenlake State Resort Park and Kentucky Dam Village among others!
The 4th of July Fireworks at Rough River Lake will be held at dusk. Fireworks will be shot off at the Rough River Dam State Park beach.This beloved local event will be hosted by the The Friends of Rough River who put a great deal of work into making sure that July 4th at Rough River Lake is a highlight of the year.
Things to Do 4th of July Weekend at Rough River Dam State Resort Park
There’s tons to do at Rough River Dam State Resort Park, so come early and make a day of it! Or book a room at the lodge and stay the whole weekend! The holiday weekend will be kicked off by a concert by The Habit Band on Friday Evening. This concert is absolutely FREE and open to the public. From there, spend the day Saturday enjoying the lake – swimming at the swim beach, boating, fishing and soaking up the sun! Make sure to take time to stop and have a meal at Grayson’s Landing restaurant. The restaurant offers delicious food that highlights the local meats and produce of the region as well as Kentucky wine and spirits – all while enjoying gorgeous panoramic views of the scenic lake. Fireworks start at dusk on Saturday and will be visible from most of the park.
